The unit is about a mile down the beach from the Sheraton, and about a 1/2 mile walk along the beach to the Grand Hyatt. As you can see from the map, this is true ocean front, where most all other locations are set well back from the water, and in many cases, are blocks away from the water.
One day in June we took a ten minute walk along the beach between the Vacation rental condo at Makahuena, walking towards the Kauai Hyatt Regency property. In the span of these few minutes, we took several photos. Even in this short time, the water, the view, and the light were ever-changing.
We encountered several other pleasant people enjoying this same walk. Couples strolling, a lady doing yoga, a lady walking her dog, a retired couple sitting on a rise looking out to sea, and some children playing on the rocks with their dad, looking for sea urchins.
Oh, how our hearts ache to return to Poipu.
