"Kiahuna plantation poipu" is another location that is far inland as compared to Makahuena. Perhaps if someone is afraid of the ocean and wants to be safely far away from the sea, they would want to stay on a plantation instead of on an oceanfront. A "Luxury Kauai condo" means that the unit is directly on the waterfront, at a place like Makahuena, also called makahuena at Poipu. In addition, it needs to have high ceilings, great linens, and lots of light.
Oftentimes units offered as luxury oceanfront are really small, dimly lit, and did you know that you can actually have oceanfront with no view? At some units, like those in the back alleyways at Makahuena, even though they are technically oceanfront, their view is of a back alley, an electrical generator, or even a parking lot. One has to be careful when searching advertisements for oceanfront, because often they will have great pictures of the oceanfront, but they had to walk outside and perhaps down a sidewalk to get the picture, as it was not visible from their unit.
If true luxury oceanfront is too expensive for your means, perhaps you would be best off to rent a unit that is farther from the water, but actually has an ocean view. For this reason, when booking your reservations, it is extremely important that you specifically ask “how much ocean can I see from my unit, and is there anything in the view between me and the ocean? If so, what is it, and what percent of my view does it represent. At www.LuxuryPoipu.com there is nothing between you and the waterfront view. That is because you are directly on the ocean.
If you look carefully at many of the supposed oceanfront condos at Makahuena, what you will notice is that the view is not of the water, but rather, it is a view of www.LuxuryPoipu.com, right in front of them, between them and the water view. When we picked www.LuxuryPoipu.com for our rental unit, it is because we wanted a totally unobstructed ocean view, not a view of someone else’s condo sitting between us and the water. True, you have to pay more for a true oceanfront with unobstructed views, because there are really just a handful of them in Poipu, and of those, there are even fewer that feature the same kind of interior appointments, such as 17 foot high ceilings, 500 thread count sheets, Tommy Bahama and Ralph Lauren appointments, all new high end cookware (Circulon) and custom dishes, 42 inch flat screen HDTV’s and all of the other luxury appointments.
Nearby is the "marriot poipu" although we have never stayed there. We prefer the 5 star Hyatt on Kauai, if we can’t get into a luxury condo. Compared to the views at www.LuxuryPoipu.com, the Hyatt has a nice view, but it is nowhere nearly as exciting or expansive as the view from www.LuxuryPoipu.com. Why? Well, at the Kauai Hyatt, the ocean is far away, not close up like at Makahuena. Some distance estimates I have seen for the Kauai Hyatt are 500-1200 feet from the ocean, plus there is a large rise of lawn between the rooms and the oceanfront. So, while you could technically say that the Kauai Hyatt is oceanfront, one also should keep in mind that there is a lot of other stuff between you and the ocean which obscures your view. At www.LuxuryPoipu.com, the only thing between you and the ocean is the giant luxury lanai (some people, like me, also spell it as “Lanei”, and nothing else. This means you can see the seals, the ocean turtles, and whale pods right in front of you. You can also hear the crashing waves just below your lanai.
www.LuxuryPoipu.com is located in Poipu, which is synonymous with poipu beach, further described as poipu beach Kauai, or even poipu beach kauai Hawaii.l Poipu beach weather is so mild that most places don’t bother with air conditioning or even heating. Why is that? With temperatures that range from 66 – 82 degrees, and constant, gently stirring trade winds blowing through the 17 foot tall windows, why would anyone want to spoil it by closing the windows, closing off the sound of the waves of the poipu oceanfront, and breathing in dried out, uncomfortable air-conditioned air. I mean, aren’t you here to enjoy the Hawaiian paradise which is Poipu? Which is not to be confused with suite paradise or whaler’s cove.
